Properties

Brief Description Synthetic analogues of kimzeyite (Ca3(Zr,Hf)2(Al,Fe,Si)3O12) were investigated using neutron powder diffraction, as well as 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy to understand the potential immobilisation for nuclear waste and long term stability.
Mossbauer spectra analysis was recorded at 298 K with a microprocessor controlled spectrometer using a ca 25 microCi 57Co/Rh source. The diffraction patterns were collected at room temperature with an incident wavelength of 1.3300 A.
