Properties

Brief Description Karl is a materials/solid state chemist, with experience in materials synthesis, characterisation and the effects of radiation damage. Karl joined ANSTO in August 2007, from the University of Sheffield.
Karl has worked on developing the capabilities within the Institute Of Materials Engineering to study the effects of radiation damage in materials, both waste form and core related.
Karl has extensively used a range of diffraction techniques, e.g. X-ray, neutron and electron, to study a wide range of materials, both crystalline and amorphous.
These results are now being used to determine the effects of radiation damage and how it can be mitigated/predicted. His expertise includes materials synthesis and characterisation, diffraction techniques i.e. X-ray, electron, and neutron,
Raman spectroscopy and radiation damage.
